Michael Steinman, M.D.
Dr. Steinman is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University
of California - San Francisco, and a physician at the San Francisco VA Medical
Center. He has a longstanding interest in
pharmaceutical marketing dating back to his first month of medical school when a
friend informed him that the "free" medical dictionary he received from a
pharmaceutical company may not be so free after all. He
has published a variety of research on pharmaceutical marketing and lectured extensively
on the topic. He serves as a board member of No Free Lunch.
In his spare time, he is a practicing geriatrician and researcher with a
primary interest in improving the quality of medication prescribing in older adults.
