About FLIP
FLIP
Formulary Leveraged Improved Prescribing (FLIP) is a collaboration between John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, and the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy and College of Medicine. FLIP's goal is to use drug formularies and the formulary process as a means to educate clinicians and students, encourage critical analysis of evidence from the drug companies and promote drugs of choice and rational prescribing. FLIP initiatives include:
-
A Clinician survey to assess formulary culture
-
Classroom based educational programs for medical and pharmacy students as well as medical residents
-
A 14-module online curriculum for practicing clinicians and formulary committee members
-
A Conference on pharmaceutical issues for medical and pharmacy students in the Chicago area.
Attorney General Consumer and Prescriber Grant Program
FLIP is funded by a U.S. Attorney General Consumer and Prescriber Grant Program (AGCPGP) grant made possible by the $430m settlement with Pfizer over the marketing of the drug gabapentin. For a list of other funded projects, click here.
