Clinical trials are research studies in which innovative therapies are explored to improve health and cancer care of current and future patients.  Each study tries to answer scientific questions and to find better ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer.

The members of the Clinical Trials Office at the University of Illinois at Chicago, both faculty and staff, are committed to giving patients a broad spectrum of clinical trials.  These studies test the effectiveness of new cancer therapy, including new cancer chemotherapeutics and drug modifiers, targeted therapeutics, immunotherapy, innovative radiotherapeutic approaches, monoclonal antibodies, vaccines and multidisciplinary treatments.

We are a center highly skilled and interested in autologous, stem cell and cord blood bone marrow transplant. In addition, the UIC Clinical Trials Office participates in national cooperative groups including the Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB), Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), and the National Surgical Adjuvant Project for Breast and Bowel Cancer (NSABP).  Research is supported through the National Cancer Institute (NCI), pharmaceutical grants, gifts, and other funding sources.
