APPOINTMENT PROMOTION & TENURE

Tenure-track faculties undergo a review process:

  • Jr. Faculty Development Committee: Dr. Thomas J. Layden has established a committee dedicated to reviewing the progress and development of junior faculty in the Department of Medicine. The review process is meant to be a positive experience, designed to ensure that all faculty in the department are making good progress towards promotion and tenure. You will be asked to present your progress and development within 1 - 1 ½ years from your hire date. You will be sent an invitation.

  • 3rd Year Review Policy: http://www.uic.edu/depts/oaa/Docs/PT0506midprobationguidelines.pdf

  • Appointments and Promotions to the Associate or Professor level are contingent on the completion and approval of an APT application. Your section administrator and the Director of Faculty Affairs & Human Resources will guide you through this process. Detailed information about the process is available online at: http://www.uic.edu/depts/mcam/fa/promo.shtml
