Dr. Brito’s main area of interest is the study of patients co-infected with the Hepatitis C and HIV viruses. In partnership with the Section of Hepatology, he is currently starting a co-infection clinic at the Chicago West Side Veteran’s Administration Hospital and the University Hospital and is trying to establish some international partnerships to conduct clinical research in Latin America to better understand HepC/HIV co-infection in the Hispanic population. He is also involved in medical education and serves as the Program Director for the University of Illinois ID fellowship program. He trained in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center and completed an Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of Miami, school of Medicine. He is very active at a national level in the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American College of Physicians (ACP) as a member of the Young Physician Section (YPS) of both organizations.
