The ID Section has a growing, interactive relationship with the School of Public Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Joint Faculty appointments and teaching interactions provide the basis of this collaboration. Junior Faculty in the ID Section with career interests in clinical investigation often seek Masters in Public Health (MPH) degrees to acquire the fundamental skills that will underpin their academic careers. ID Fellows may seek to follow similar career paths if they develop an interest in clinical research careers during their fellowship years. The proximity of the UIC School of Public Health and its growing emphasis on curriculum components in Infectious Diseases create a natural stimulus for increasing collaboration with the ID Section.
