Toxicology |
The Toxikon Consortium sponsors a 2 year Medical Toxicology Fellowship Program at the University of Illinois, Cook County Hospital and The Illinois Poison Control Center. Over the past 2 decades, our Fellowship Program has trained over 30 fellows in medical toxicology. Established in the 1950s, the Illinois Poison Center was the first PCC in the United States. Our Fellowship Program was also the first fully accredited in the nation. Our research specializations include: street drugs of abuse, natural poisons and venoms, antidote therapy, pharmaco/toxicokinetics, and environmental/occupational toxicology.

International Emergency Medicine and Health |
Started in 1995, the University of Illinois College of Medicine fellowship in International Emergency Medicine and Health is one of the oldest programs of its kind in the United States. This two year full time program includes international experiences, predominantly in developing countries, reserach and a Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Illinois School of Public Health.
During the fellowship, the fellow works 16 clinical hours per week in the Emergency Department, acting as a junior attending and supervising residents and students. The fellow participates in didactic conferences by lecturing and giving grand round presentation.

Emergency Medicine Administration |
The Emergency Medicine Administration fellowship is is a one year full time program that leads to extensive experience in the business of running an Emergency Department.
The Administrative fellow will function under the supervision of the Department Head, Clinical Operations Director and Business Manager, in order to gain skills in directing an academic Emergency Medicine Department. During the fellowship, the fellow works 16 clinical hours per week in the Emergency Department, acting as a junior attending and supervising residents and students. At the completion of the fellowship, the fellow will be eligible to complete a masters degree in Business Administration provided through the University of Illinois College of Business Administration. The fellow participates in didactic conferences by lecturing and giving grand round presentation.
EMS |
The EMS fellowship is is a one year full time program working with the Chicago North EMS Project Medical Director.
The Chicago Fire Department operates the largest totally Advanced Life Support ambulance system in the world, and during the fellowship, the fellow works under the supervision of the project medical director of the Emergency Medical Services and Paramedic training. At the completion of this one year fellowship, the fellow will have developed skills in prehospital patients transport and paramedic training. The fellow participates in didactic conferences by lecturing and giving grand round presentation.
