Toxicology Rotation

Student Orientation

Welcome to the Toxicology rotation based at the Toxikon Consortium. We provide consultation services to the entire state of Illinois through the IllinoisPoisonCenter and directly to patients at CookCountyHospital and UICMedicalCenter.The Toxicology rotation is designed for clinical service, education, and research.Expect an excellent month.If you have any questions or problems, feel free to discuss them with any of the fellows or attendings.

To successfully complete the rotation, you MUST:

(1) Obtain a current Cook County Hospital ID

(2) Attend daily morning rounds

(3) Spend three afternoons each week at Toxikon with on call rotator/fellow

(4) Spend a single afternoon at the IllinoisPoisonCenter

(5) Do a formal 30-minute presentation on the Tox topic of your choice

(6) Dress appropriately (but no white coat needed): we do bedside consults and

attend conferences throughout the city.
