150th Anniversary Gala

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences celebrated the 150th Anniversary of the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary with a Gala on June 20, 2008 at the Chicago History Museum. The event included a pre-gala reception, cocktails and hors d'oevres, dinner, dancing, and a silent auction.

The 150th Anniversary Gala was a celebration of the historical contribution of the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary to the state of Illinois and the Chicago community. We gathered together to celebrate our successes of the past, our commitment to the present, and our vision of the future. The event's Honorary Chair was Mayor Richard M. Daley and was emceed by Rich King, Emmy award winning WGN sports anchor.

The University of Illinois Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is dedicated to combating vision loss and blindness by providing the most advanced and compassionate patient care, conducting exemplary research, and offering the best possible physician education programs. All net proceeds from this event will be used for research and patient care for those with blinding or vision threatening diseases.
