Skin Tips
Exfoliate Daily
Wash your face daily with an exfoliating cleanser to remove dead cells that help to add to the appearance of lines and wrinkles. A cleanser that contains AHAs (such as glycolic acid) or BHAs (such as salicylic acid) are the best. Moisturizers containing the same ingredients also diminish the look of fine lines.
Vitamins and Enzymes
Protecting against exposure to environmental factors that cause wrinkles can be done by applying an antioxidant lotion that contains Vitamin C or E, coenzyme Q10, or alpha-lipoic acid. Retinol may also have rejuvenating benefits, look for moisturizers that contain the vitamin-A derivative retinol.
NO Smoking
Don't start smoking, or if you do, quit now! When you smoke puckering your lips repeatedly causes lines to form around the mouth over time. In addition, smoking releases free radicals that destroy the protective membrane of your skin cells, this causes the skin to lose elasticity and allows for the formation of wrinkles.
Sunscreen
You hear it all the time, apply sunscreen every day, no matter if it is sunny or overcast! Use at least a SPF 15 sunscreen to block UVB and UVA rays. These rays break down collagen deep in the layers of the skin, which allows the skin to sag and wrinkle. Look for sunscreens that contain micronized zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, or Parsol 1789.
Moisturize Daily
2 times a day keeps the wrinkles away. Applying a cream or lotion with a broad-spectrum sunscreen containing SPF 15 or higher will protect against the sun's damaging rays. Also, brushing on a liquid-based concealer that is lighter than your skin tone on individual wrinkle lines will help reduce their appearance. Powder can emphasize wrinkles.
Wear Sunglasses
Squinting, like smoking, causes wrinkles by the repetition of puckering your skin. Wear sunglasses to prevent future wrinkles.
Exercise
Exercise can activate and rejuvenate the skin and improve circulation and blood flow. Also, body sweat triggers production of sebum, which is the skin's own natural moisturizer.
Drink lots of Water
Eight glasses of water a day, minimum, helps to maintain your skin's elasticity and suppleness, experts say. Coffee, Tea, and Sodas do not count because caffeine is dehydrating.
Don't Stress
Worry lines got their name for a reason. Constant stress not only causes wrinkles to form but can exasperate skin conditions such as acne.
