Cornea Service
The Cornea Service sees patients with disorders of the front portion of the eye as well as what are called "external diseases" of the eye, that is eyelid and conjunctival problems. Patients with corneal infections, keratoconus, cataracts, tumors of the front portion of the eye, blepharitis, dry eyes, and many other disorders are evaluated and treated by the Cornea Service. Patients are also seen and evaluated for refractive surgical procedures to correct nearsightedness and astigmatism. Learn more about the Cornea Service.

Recent Award
Dr. Joel Sugar, professor of ophthalmology, received the 2011 Castroviejo Award, the highest award of the Cornea Society, given in recognition of exceptional contributions in support of the Society's mission to promote knowledge, research and understanding in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery. The award is named for Ramon Castroviejo, MD, the father of modern corneal transplant surgery and the inspiration for the founding of the Cornea Society.
