What is a medical illustrator?
A medical illustrator is an artist who draws medically related subjects for educational, promotional and editorial purposes. Medical illustrators receive training in both medicine and art studying such subjects as human gross anatomy, neuro-anatomy, histology and embryology. In addition, artists must gain drawing skills in both traditional and computer media. For information about training, contact the UIC Department of Biomedical Visualization.
