Team Ophthalmology Pulls together for Strong Showing at 2006 Metro Chicago Heart Walk

On Friday September 22, 2006 11 dedicated walkers from the department of ophthalmology gathered together with thousands of other chicago area walkers to support the American Heart Association. Our team of 13, with 11 able to walk, consisted of department members from all areas.

The team raised $1,853.00 for heart and pulmonary related research. UIC raised a record $63,061 with donations still coming in! UIC's team goal was to raise more than Northwestern, Loyola and Central DuPage Hospitals and we did!

This was ophthalmology's first year participating in the walk as a team and I know all of us agree it was a great experience. We had fun and got a bit of exercise, some of us even got massages, in the process.

Look for emails next summer for Heart Walk 2007! We would love to raise even more money next year and have an even bigger team!
