Department NewsAmy Lin, MD, pathology expert, assists Ophthalmology Department
Amy Lin, MD, Assistant Professor of Pathology with the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Department of Pathology, recently joined the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology under a joint appointment this school year. Her clinical interests include ophthalmic pathology and general surgical pathology. “I am excited to work in such a dynamic, growing department, and with leaders in the field of ophthalmology,” says Dr. Lin. This fall, she attended some of the department’s Grand Rounds when patients had biopsies to offer details on pathology findings. “Dr. Lin is a wonderful addition to our team approach for patient care,” says Amjad Ahmad, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor and Co-Director of the Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery Service.“ She has significant ophthalmology experience which makes her pathology input invaluable. We are lucky to have her working with us in the care of our patients.” Dr. Lin will host a review of ophthalmic pathology at the Illinois Eye Review in March 2009. Her presentation will mainly focus on common conditions seen in ophthalmic pathology practice, but also with a brief discussion of specimen handling and processing. Her research focus has been ophthalmic pathology and medical education. Dr. Lin received her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her ophthalmic pathology fellowship was performed at the University of Illinois at Chicago, as well.
