Intended Audience

Ophthalmologists and ophthalmolgists-in-training

Program Purpose

The purpose of Ophthalmology Grand Rounds is to increase the knowledge base of the general as well as the subspecialty trained ophthalmologist in both clinical ophthalmology and current ophthalmologic research. This will be accomplished through a format which includes specialty rounds, lectures and basic science research seminars.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity participants should be able to:

  • Diagnose and treat anterior and posterior segment diseases of the eye with greater accuracy, for example glaucoma, corneal disease, uveitis, neuro-ophthalmic disorders and retinal diseases
  • Explain current ophthalmic diagnostic and surgical techniques such as ultrasonography, laser techniques, as well as current techniques used in cataract and retinal surgery
  • Review the manifestations of rare and unusual diseases which may or may not be frequently seen in the general practice of ophthalmology
  • Recognize the relationship and correlation between basic science research and clinical practice
