Mission Statement
The Chicago LIERI Lions Club supports the Lions International commitment of service to the blind and visually impaired through a commitment to strengthening the research and education programs of the Lions of Illinois Eye Research Institute and the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Goals
- Share information about recent findings in vision research with Illinois Lions Club leaders and members, and the general public, thereby increasing awareness of the research accomplishments and value of the LIERI.
- Raise funds to support the research program of the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences and LIERI, including:
- Purchases of equipment
- Research fellowship(s)
- Research project seed funding
- Other research priorities as identified by the Department and the Club
- At the appropriate time, make a pledge to help the Lions of Illinois raise funds renovate and expand the LIERI building.
