Cellular and Molecular Biology Module
The Cellular and Molecular Biology Module offers dedicated equipment and expertise for tissue culturing, histologic analyses and molecular biology experiments. Beatrice Yue, PhD, directs the module. Dr. Yue, a cell biologist with over 25 years of experience in cell biology and molecular biology studies, is well-regarded for her work on the cornea and the trabecular meshwork.
The module’s tissue culture services include cell counting, cell freezing, and cell plating for tissue culture experiments, cell transfection, and microinjection. The module also provides the required facilities and expertise to perform morphological studies of tissue specimens and cultured cells. In addition, the module offers consultation and services related to molecular biological techniques, such as DNA sequencing, RNA preparation, real-time PCR, and proteomics with SELDI technology
The Cellular and Molecular Biology Module is housed on the second floor of the LIERI Building, with one tissue culture room, one histology/tissue preparation laboratory, one molecular biology room, and one autoclave/purified water room. Major equipment includes:
