Core Research FacilitiesCell Biology Module
The Cell Biology Module offers dedicated equipment and expertise in establishing, maintaining and propagating normal, transformed, and transfected cell lines and organ cultures for use in ophthalmic research. Beatrice Yue, Ph.D. directs the module. Dr. Yue, a cell biologist with over 20 years of experience in tissue culture and morphologic experiment, is well-regarded for her work on the trabecular meshwork. The module’s tissue culture services include cell counting, cell freezing, and cell plating for tissue culture experiments, cell transfection, and microinjection. The module also provides the required facilities and expertise to perform morphological studies of tissue specimens and cultured cells. The Cell Biology Module occupies approximately 580 sq. ft. of dedicated space on the second floor of the LIERI Building , with one tissue culture room , one histology/tissue preparation laboratory, and one autoclave/purified water room.
