LenSx Program
Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery at UI Ophthalmology
- The LenSx Program offers patients the latest evolution in cataract surgery: bladeless incisions that are precise to the micron.
- LenSx is the surgical laser developed by Alcon using femtosecond laser technology - extremely short bursts of energy - to make the bladeless incisions. Femtosecond lasers have been used for years in refractive surgery to create a flap in the cornea. These lasers have recently been FDA approved for cataract surgery where they are used to make incisions and help prepare the cataract for efficient removal.
- LenSx cataract surgery is an option for patients who are interested in premium intraocular lenses, including multifocal lenses.
