Hello,

My name is Jay Joshi, and I am interested in serving you as a member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC). If elected, I will actively seek your input and represent your concerns to the GME body.

My goal is to contribute to the development of policies pertinent to resident education. This requires one to be well-equipped in assessing unique problems given the myriad of issues GME faces. My background provides the experience and acumen to knowledge-broker divergent concepts together to offer innovative, effective solutions. I am knowledgeable in resident duty hours, resident supervision, effective integration of core curricula, and clinical quality improvement.

I have experience in many quality improvement projects; and I currently oversee a handoff checklist project in the PACU designed to improve the patient handoff among the nursing staff and residents. I developed a mathematical decision analysis program that determines the cost-effectiveness and the clinical utility for patients arriving into the ED. I worked with the Chicago-based regional extension center, as part of the HITECH Act, developing clinical value-add propositions for Health Information Exchanges (HIE). I have additional publications in the Journal of Medical Education and the Journal of Informatics relating to topics such as quality improvement and handoff efficiencies.

I completed my medical doctorate (MD) at the University of Illinois, Chicago-College of Medicine and my master's in business administration (MBA) at the University of Chicago-Booth. Currently I am an intern in the General Surgery program.

Thank you for your time. I look forward to dedicating my services on your behalf, in order to optimize your clinical training experience.
Respectfully,
Jay

My name is Grant Stucki and I am a third year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery resident. I have always been interested in making the most out of my education and I feel that serving as a representative in this position would allow me to play a role in improving our resident curriculum and overall experience. During my residency, I've had the opportunity to function as a resident on my own service, as well as on Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Trauma Surgery. I have made many great friends at UIC and experienced a variety of clinical and didactic situations involving residents, faculty, and patients. Working as a member of the team on these various services has allowed me to cultivate my ability to efficiently assist those around me in accomplishing our goals. I feel that my experience, charismatic nature, and sincere desire to improve our education will allow me to serve effectively as a GMEC resident representative.

Dear Colleagues,

It would be an honor and a privilege to serve as a resident representative on the GMEC.  New policy changes are continually being imposed on our already rigorous training curricula. In this dynamic time, we must find solutions that support resident wellness while preserving the high standards of our professional legacy. This is an opportunity to augment our already world-class residency and fellowship experiences by incorporating modern best-practices.

The world's most successful healthcare institutions embody a culture of trust, compassion, and an emphasis on quality.  My experience as an MBA student and biotechnology consultant has exposed me to many extra-clinical skills and concepts that are elemental in pursuit of this goal. I look forward to representing your best interests and hope that you are as excited about your future at UIC as I am.
Sincerely,
John N. Moustoukas

I am a native of the South Side of Chicago, and I am very proud to be working with all of you at UIC.  As a resident in the Department of Family Medicine, I have worked with many residents on various services throughout the year and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you more. Having fulfilled various leadership roles throughout my education, from academics to varsity athletics, I am interested in making a contribution to UIC and the city of Chicago by helping turn diversity, efficiency and teamwork into learning and outstanding patient care. The hospital is filled with brilliance in the form of residents and I am certain that if we improve communication between departments, we can improve the educational experience and help each other solve local and national health care problems. Furthermore, by improving collegiality between the various specialties and departments at UIC, as  well as improving resident quality of life by implementation and adherence of work hour rules, without negatively affecting education,  this will undoubtedly translate into even better patient care than we have seen in recent years. I am very hopeful for the opportunity to represent you and the body of residents at UIC because I do believe that we have the ability to continue developing UIC and make it the premier medical center that it truly can be.

I am an orthopaedic surgery resident and interested in serving on the GME committee. I want to help establish a good resident experience here at UIC by serving on the committee that serves as a conduit between the residents and the faculty. As a member of the GMEC, I would work to make the educational experience at UIC as good as it possibly can be, and make sure we are all happy in our programs. Also, as a member of a surgical subspecialty, I think I can bring a different perspective to the committee than may have been previously represented. I hope to serve you on this committee and make a valuable contribution to the residency experience at UIC.
