My name is Audrey and I am interested in serving on the GMEC. I have always had a passion for voicing the concerns of my colleagues, and I have a vested interest in policy and curriculum. In medical school I served as the student representative to the AAMC for four years; I also served as vice chair of my class and of the student assembly for two years. I am committed to ensuring that the needs of the residents and fellows are met and I am confident that I will be a great representative. I believe that it is important to be proactive in our education to guarantee that we are providing the best care to our patients. I would be honored to serve on this committee and to make our work and learning environment favorable so that we can continue to live out our mission of saving lives. Thank you. |

My name is Dan Feldman and I am a first year Internal Medicine resident. I would love the opportunity to help improve the quality of our training experience here at UIC. I feel that this is a great place to be a resident and I would like to work towards the perpetual improvement of our learning environment. I am very interested in medical education and I intend to pursue a career as a clinical educator. In medical school, I led an AMSA task force that educated local teenagers about HIV and AIDS. I also served on an advisory committee at my university's art museum that raised awareness among the student body about the educational opportunities available at the museum. I truly feel that I could make a valuable contribution to the Graduate Medical Education Committee. Thank you very much for your time. |

As an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery resident I have a unique perspective on education and would like to share my experiences and beliefs to help improve the quality of education for all residents at UIC. I feel strongly that residents need to take an active role in their education in order to ensure the system within which we work is always looking out for our best interests. I spend 14 months of my four years here at UIC working with other residents on Anesthesia, General Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Plastics, and Internal Medicine services and have learned a great deal about what many residents in all areas of medicine/dentistry want to achieve in their time here. I look forward to the opportunity to bridge the gap between residents and administration and realize that all too often we seem disconnected from the people who have a great influence on our education. Thank you. |

My name is Marina Mathew. I'm a new resident in the Occupational Medicine Residency here in UIC. I would like to represent my department and all residents alike. I've held positions of representation before as I was representative for my resident class as an intern. I would like to bring to the table my desire to ensure that residents are treated fairly and equally regarding quality of education, fairness of benefits/salary, and to ensure a stable/safe work environment. My back ground is in Internal Medicine (just completed my training and hope to be board certified this August). In addition, by being in Occupational Medicine training currently, I can also bring to the table what I learn as an added benefit to work standards. Sincerely, Marina Mathew. |
