This information provided for 2005 Incoming Residents and Fellows:

RE: Computer systems used at UIMCC
Dear New Resident:
The University of Illinois Medical Center uses two computer systems for patient care:
Dynamic Vision (Medical Records Imaging)
Gemini Patient Care System.
Dynamic Vision is used as an archival system for Medical Records. You will be trained on Dynamic Vision during your Gemini training in the Gemini lab.
Gemini Patient Care System is essential for your new position at UIMCC. Gemini is the patient care system in the hospital and outpatient areas. Gemini allows you to:
View results online
Document your clinical notes
Sign your transcriptions
Enter Orders for inpatients.
Prior to receiving your unique codes for Dynamic Vision and the Gemini Patient Care System, you must complete:
Dynamic Vision and Gemini Training (approximately 6 hours)
Security Awareness and Confidentiality Guidelines Training
This training is provided in the Hospital Orientation that is scheduled for June 18 and again on June 25 (8 am - 1 pm) and should not be confused with GME Orientation or any Departmental Orientations.
Gemini training uses a computer based training application. The amount of time required for training may vary from individual to individual based on your Windows experience. The training is held in a lab environment, on a first come first serve basis unless your department has prescheduled blocks of time for you to complete your training.
Please contact your department to find out if they have already scheduled you for Gemini training. Some of your departments have scheduled blocks of time in advance. In other cases your department may have you schedule your own training time. All training sessions are open except for those prescheduled by departments (usually in the last week in June.) For additional information regarding training availability contact 312-413-9324 for assistance.
University of Illinois Medical Students returning as residents should plan on coming in for a refresh session to familiarize themselves with changes to the system since their original training.
We look forward to seeing you in June.
