GME Online Core Curriculum Requirements
for Medical and Dental Residents

The GME Online Core Curriculum was designed to introduce you to concepts which will prepare you to join the physician community. The Core Curriculum addresses the six general Core competencies identified by the ACGME and supported by the Graduate Medical Education Committee: Patient Care; Medical Knowledge; Professionalism; Practice-based Learning and Improvement; Systems-based Practice; and Interpersonal and Communications Skills. The online format provides the opportunity to engage in lively discussion with your peers and to participate at any time that is convenient for you, from any computer which has Internet access and a web browser.
If you began your residency or fellowship program on or after June 1, 2007 and your program does not have additional module requirements, you must first complete GME Module 114, “Introduction to the General Competencies,” followed by six additional required modules (101, 103, 106, 107, 111 and 115 in any order,) and any elective modules to complete four (4) modules per year or a total of ten (10) modules for a three-year or longer program. Residents completing only one preliminary year at UIMCC and fellows completing one-year fellowships must complete GME 114 first, followed by any three required modules: 101, 103, 106, 107, 111 or 115.
Note:    Always check with your Program Director to find out if your program has additional and/or program-specific module requirements.
