After receiving your permanent license, please bring a copy of it to the GME Office. Upon receipt of the copy, we will provide you with an application and instructions for the Illinois Controlled Substances Registration and the Federal DEA number. See Contact Us for our address.
Applying for Controlled Substances Registration is the second step of a three-step process. The first step was to apply for and receive your permanent license. The third step is to apply for the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number.
You may apply for the Controlled Substance Registration and the federal DEA number at the same time. However, you will not receive the DEA number until the DEA has determined that you have received the state Controlled Substance Registration.
