Voting membership on the committee must include residents nominated by their peers, appropriate program directors, other members of the faculty, and the Senior Associate Dean, Educational Affairs. |

One representative is selected to represent each clinical department in the College of Medicine, and from each residency program in the College of Dentistry. The representative is responsible for reporting GMEC activities to all program directors and faculty within that department or area. Each clinical department head is contacted annually to select the representative for the academic year. |
A general election is held annually for residents to elect three voting and three to five alternate resident representatives to the GMEC. A resident representative to the GMEC may be asked to continue for an additional term if he/she has attended at least four of the GMEC meetings held during the preceding academic year. |
