9.1 A resident or fellow may not apply for medical staff privileges at any hospital without the written permission of the resident's program director.
  
9.2 A resident may not apply for attending staff privileges at any affiliated hospital for the specialty in which he/she is currently training. Privileges will be limited to the specialty in which the resident is already board certified or eligible. Example: A fellow in a surgical subspecialty may apply for general surgery privileges, with the approval of his/her program director, assuming the fellow is board eligible in general surgery. The fellow cannot apply for privileges related to his/her current field of training.
  
9.3 Residents may be appointed to COM faculty status, including paid appointments, at the discretion of the department, within the parameters of the COM faculty appointment process.
