Following is an explanation of the process/procedures necessary for UICMC residents to satisfy requirements for TB Respirator Training/Fit Testing.
1. Residents should contact their Residency Program.
a. Each department is responsible for identifying persons at risk of exposure to TB.
b. UICMC policy dictates that each department designate a person who can provide training/fit-testing for their personnel.
c. Environmental Health and Safety can provide training for the designated departmental training persons so that they can effectively accomplish this task.
2. At risk persons must be provided with respiratory protection.
3. Respiratory protection requires an assessment of medical fitness provided by University Health Services (312-996-7420).
4. Prior to initial use, training and fit testing for the respirator type must be provided.
