Welcome New Residents and Fellows
November 24, 2010
Dear Incoming Resident or Fellow:
Welcome to  the University of Illinois at Chicago. We look forward to your joining our resident staff. We are confident that you will be participating in a high-quality program that will truly meet your needs to learn in depth regarding your specialty. We expect you to complete the program with superb knowledge and skills while having become a sensitive and astute clinician, a teacher, a true professional, and a life-long learner.
University forms and instructions for completing them are available through the Medical Center's New Innovations Residency Management Suite software. To access the materials:

2. Go to:  http://www.new-innov.com/Login/Login.aspx
3. Fill in the "Institution Login:"  uic (as one word with no spaces)
4. Fill in the "Username:"  newhire (as one word in lower case)
5. Fill in the "Password:"  resident (lower case; for residents and fellows; password will not show as you type it)
6. Click on:  "Log In"
7. Select "Department Manuals" from the "Favorites" button in the upper right

Please complete the applications and forms in "1. DO IMMEDIATELY" in the order in which they are listed. Then, continue completing forms in folders 2 through 4, in that order.
We urge you to carefully read instruction materials for each application or form and to submit required forms to the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office as quickly as possible. This will help to ensure that your appointment proceeds on schedule for your anticipated training program's starting date. Questions about the materials should be sent to the GME Resident Contacts via email to gmehelp@uic.edu.
If you have not yet applied for your temporary Illinois medical license, contact your residency program coordinator as soon as possible. Your coordinator will direct you to the appropriate Illinois Medical or Dental License Application. It is most important that you begin the licensing process immediately, following the instructions included with the application. Questions on licensing may be directed to the GME Licensing Specialist:  Marla J. Dunning via email to gmehelp@uic.edu.
Please feel free to telephone the GME Office with any questions you may have. Once again, welcome to the  University of Illinois at Chicago. We look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,

Cathy Canfield-Jepson
Director, Graduate Medical Education
