We invite you to learn more about our Residency
Program. We would like to share all the great
educational, clinical,and scholarly activities that
take place at University of Illinois Medical Center.
At UIC we strive to provide you a well rounded
training experience in both the inpatient and
outpatient settings.Our outpatient pediatric clinic
is extremely busy and provides exposure to
children of all ages, ethnic background and socioeconomic status.
|
Annually at the Children and Adolescent Center, we see over 32,500 pediatric patients including over 11,400 subspecialty visits. This high volume of outpatients allows for an excellent educational experience.
Because UIC has the largest medical school in Illinois, you have the opportunity to work regularly with medical students. This enables you to develop your teaching abilities – an extremely important skill necessary for all physicians.
The School of Public Health at UIC is one of the best in the country. Many residents have pursued their MPH degree during residency – and totally free of charge since UIC employees get a tuition waiver.
We are in the process of developing a Global Health Track that will allow residents to travel abroad and experience international health activities in under developed countries throughout the world.
Some other educational highlights of our program include:
. Our EBM Curriculum
. Monthly Mock Codes
. Monthly PREP Board Reviews
. Weekly case conference before Continuity Clinic
. Weekly combined Grand Rounds with Rush/Stroger
. Monthly combined UIC/Rush Allergy-Immunology Conferences
. The Healthy Steps Program
We are extremely proud of what we have to offer in our Pediatric Residency Program and we would like to share more of our accomplishments with you.
