Radiology Residency & Fellowship InformationWelcome to the Department of Radiology Residency Program
Thank you for your interest in our Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program. The principle objective of the program is to train highly competent, well-rounded, responsible clinical radiologists with positive attitudes towards research and continuing education. Emphasis is placed on training the resident to assume the role of consultant on the patient-care team, while also participating as a direct-care provider of diagnostic and therapeutic invasive imaging procedures. The program strives to provide a high-quality educational program with in-depth practical experience in all radiological subspecialties. Basic and clinical research is encouraged for residents.

- Graded responsibility with increasing experience
- All cases/studies are reviewed with attendings radiologist

Academic Curriculum
- Repeating Core curriculum corresponding to the 11 subspecialty categories that the American Board of Radiology (ABR) specifies.
- Conference format is both didactic & case based
- Annual ACR in-service.
- Annual Resident Research Symposium
Conference
- Daily noon conference.
- Additional 7AM and 4PM.
- Weekly Grand Rounds.
- Combined Conference with the clinical sevices (Neurology, GI, GU, ENT, Neurosurgey, Rheumatology).
Call Schedule
- No independent call during first year
- Attending and senior resident is available for the consultation through a teleradiology service Post-call resident reviews prior night's ER studies with an attending.
- Night Float System
- Responsibilities include:
- Interpreting emergency and emergent radilogical studies (plain films, CT, US, etc.)
- Performing as a house staff consultant.
- Out of house call during the 3rd and the 4th years and includes angiographic procedures.

- Conference allowances include:
- AFIP allowance during 3rd year
- Time-off for conference during 4th year
- Allowance and time for any presentation at a conference
- 1-3 days off for RSNA depending on PGY Level.
- Vacations are scheduled individually and include:
- Twenty workdays (four weeks) per year
- Standard UNIVERSITY holidays, sick days, etc
- Library and media services include:
- PC computers with multimedia capabilities, a scanner, slide-maker, etc
- Medical-Center-wide computer network providing every user with a personalized desktop that provides access to e-mail, Internet, Office applications, web-based PACS viewer, medical record system, and other clinical applications
- Department library includes CD-ROM’s, ACR laserdiscs, Radiology journals, textbooks, and teaching files
Application Process
- All applications are accepted only via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
- All applicants are required to have completed an approved internship before entering a radiology residency
- The application deadline is September 30, 2009.
- Applications are reviewed on a continuous basis untill late December
- Interviews are scheduled for January
- Seven new PGY-2 positions per year are matched through the NRMP
