The
purpose and intent of the City Partner Award is to recognize
the impact UIC alumni have on the region,
whether the impact
is quiet and generally unknown, or public and highly visible.
The
award identifies alumni involvement in two major venues, in
either the key areas of urban development identified by the UIC
Great
Cities Program or in outstanding service to the University
of Illinois at Chicago, itself. The six main areas of the Great
Cities Institute
are community development, metropolitan sustainability, health
and human development, international partnerships, professional
education and the UIC neighborhoods initiative. A committee
of
past recipients and alumni leaders determine the recipients.
