The Flame
Award for Teaching Excellence is given to exceptional UIC educators
who have made a lasting impression
on their students' lives and inspired their students by "lighting
the flame" of desire for intellectual growth and lifelong
learning. This award is unique among faculty awards at UIC in that
nominations are submitted by alumni and sponsored by the UIC Alumni
Advisory Board. The recipients receive an award and a monetary
stipend of $1,000. Candidates may be current or retired faculty
members of UIC, teaching at either the graduate or undergraduate
level, and must be nominated by University of Illinois alumni.
Individuals may be nominated multiple times, but can only receive
the award once.
