Beyond Burnham: Authors Discuss the Past and Future of Planning for the Chicago Region
Alan Mammoser, MUPP ’99, discussed his new book Beyond Burnham: An Illustrated History of Planning for the Chicago Region with coauthor Joseph P. Schwieterman. Approximatly 30 UIC students, alumni and staff members were given the a first look at the book that celebrated the centennial celebration of Daniel Burnham’s and Edward Bennett’s Plan of Chicago followed by Q&A and book signings. This event was co-sponsored with the UIC Daley Library and the UIC Alumni Association.
A variety of events and panel discussions will take place.

Family Summer Fun with the UIC CUPPA Alumni Association
bring your families and friends and join the UIC
CUPPA Alumni Association for an outdoor picnic and
300 N. Central Park Ave. (Jensen Room)
12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Cost $15 per person (box lunch and beverage)
last days of summer with family and friends at Garfield Park.
Picnic will be followed by a brief presentation about the recent
developments in the Park. Then, get a chance to experience fun
and learning by exploring the Garfield Park Conservatory and
Chicago's best kept secret, Garfield Park marketplace. Children
are welcome. Either order a box lunch for your kids or bring
your own food for no charge. There is a Children's Garden in
the Conservatory and lots of room to play in the 300-acre park.

Lunch for Joan Vaughan
The Alumni Association says good-bye to Joan Vaughan, who will be
leaving the CUPPA office for new opportunities. Joan's contributions to
CUPPA and to CUPPA-AA are too numerous to describe, and we are sorry to
see her go and we wish her all the best.
Local tours for visitors to the Association of Collegiate Schools of
Planning meeting here in Chicago. CUPPA reception from 5-7 pm at CUPPA
