Urban River Adventure
25 alumni participated in this program presented by the Friends of the
Chicago River. The guided cruise was designed to highlight the changing
role of the river throughout Chicago’s history and recent developments
that have changed the river from one of Chicago’s eyesores to one of
its feature amenities. A stop at the Green Dolphin Restaurant for jazz
and appetizers gave alumni a perfect chance to catch up with old
friends.

Neighborhood Tours
Alumni Association members raised funds and helped plan Chicago
neighborhood tours for 350 Associated Collegiate Schools of
Planning (ACSP) conference participants on October 22, 1999.
Some of the tours were: Chicago Blues Tour, Downtown Skyscraper Walking
Tour, University Neighborhood Partnerships and Urban Revitalization in
Chicago’s South Loop. After the tours, participants were invited to a
reception held at the college.

Board Meeting and Holiday Party with attendance by 50 alumni and
friends.
1998
Fall
Bike Tour of Lakefront and Loop
Special funding from the U of I Alumni Association helped to host a
bike tour of the lakefront and Loop area in conjunction with an
Architectural Foundation tour and a bus tour of the South Loop. The bus
tour included the Near South Loop, Printers Row and extended south to
35th Street.
December
The first CUPPA-AA holiday party was held in December 1998, attracting
65 alumni, students, faculty and friends.
