Center for Urban Economic Development (CUED)
The Center for Urban Economic Development (CUED) conducts research, policy analysis, and evaluation on urban and regional economic and workforce development issues.
Great Cities Institute (GCI)
The Great Cities Institute sponsors research, service, and educational programs aimed at improving the quality of life of people living in Chicago, its metropolitan region, and other great cities of the world.
The Urban Data Visualization Lab (UDVL)
The UDVL is a research center housed with the Department of Urban Planning and Policy in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs; however, it works with many different units across campus and across many disciplines. It focuses on visualization problem solving, visualization techniques such as mapping and effective data presentation, and the prior data preparation work needed to ensure quality data.
Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy
This campuswide research center focuses on promoting and coordinating engaged research on racial justice and related issues of poverty.
Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement (IPCE)
IPCE creates opportunities for scholars, concerned citizens, students, and
government to participate in public discourse and educational programs on
current policy issues and social trends.

Center for Neighborhood and Community Improvement
Since its founding in 1978, the Center has been guided by the mission to improve the quality of life for all residents of the City of Chicago and the metropolitan area through research and technical assistance to organizations and local government agencies in their efforts to revitalize the many and varied neighborhoods and communities.
Science, Technology
and Environment Policy Laboratory
Housed in the Department of Public Administration, the research group helps support a Ph.D. program in Science and Technology through funded projects which enable the training of a new generation of multinational and multidisciplinary social scientists who recognize the growing importance of science, technology and environment policy issues in society.
Survey Research Laboratory (SRL)
SRL provides survey research services to University faculty, staff, and students; other academic institutions; local, state, and federal agencies; and others working in the public interest.
Urban Transportation Center (UTC)
The Urban Transportation Center at UIC is dedicated to conducting research and education and providing technical assistance on urban transportation planning, policy, operations, and management.
