"IT and Public Sector Communication: Emerging Perspectives"

IT has been around long enough now and is widespread enough that one can make judgments about its impact on American politics in general and public administration in particular. Research findings indicate that some of the changes that IT has brought about are truly transformational, changing institutional structures and the distribution of political power. Other changes amount to little more than pouring old wine into new bottles. They make it easier and faster and often cheaper to perform familiar tasks but do not alter the political scene in fundamental ways. Prof. Graber will delineate the major areas in which we see these two types of changes.
