| Paul Goldstein is one of the leading
experts on relationships between substance use and trafficking and
violence. Dr. Goldstein was awarded a substantial grant by the National
Institute on Drug Abuse to study "Healthcare Needs of Addicted
Criminal Offenders." The goal is to gain a detailed understanding
of health care needs and service utilization of a sample of chemically
dependent criminal offenders. This project includes a five-year
follow-up. Dr. Goldstein is also in the process of completing a
study, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, that examines
personal and system impacts of termination of Social Security disability
benefits related to drug addiction and alcoholism. |
