Directions to Great Cities Institute

GCI is located at 412 South Peoria Street, Chicago, Illinois 60607 in CUPPA Hall. Our building is on the west side of Peoria Street and on the north side of the Eisenhower (formerly Congress) Expressway. We are located just south of Van Buren Street and just across the expressway from UIC's main campus.

From the south, Great Cities Institute can be reached from the UIC parking lot #9 by walking north via the walkway overpass.

From the north, the building is located on the corner of Peoria and Van Buren Streets. Peoria is two blocks west of Halsted St. and Van Buren is four blocks south of Madison St.

Parking

UIC Parking Lot #9
Parking is available in the UIC Lot #9 located on the corners of Harrison and Morgan Streets. Entrance to the parking facility is on Morgan, about one-quarter block north of Harrison. Have your guests park on the east end of the lot and walk over the expressway walkway. Parking costs are approximately $3.50 - $7.00. Please bear in mind that this lot quite often becomes filled to capacity.

Public Parking
There are several public parking lots in the surrounding area. Costs vary in each parking facility.

Public Transportation

CTA
The Great Cities Institute can easily be reached via the CTA Blue Line stop at Halsted-UIC and via the #126 Jackson bus which stops at Van Buren and Peoria Streets westbound and at Jackson and Peoria Streets eastbound. The #8 Halsted bus stops at Halsted and Van Buren.
