Accessibility guidelines have been around for decades, helping to make indoor and outdoor environments available to all citizens, including individuals with disabilities. What issues still exist? Where is there need for continued engineering work? Glenn Hedman will discuss new frontiers in the built environment, from accessible outdoor pathways to elements for safe public transportation to the evacuation of tall buildings.

Glenn Hedman is a Rehabilitation Engineer with 24 years experience in delivering Assistive Technology services to children and adults with disabilities in the Chicago metropolitan area. He leads the UIC Assistive Technology Unit, delivering services to over 400 individuals with disabilities annually. The ATU is an interdisciplinary, community-based outlet for Assistive Technology, providing services to consumers in their home, school, work and recreation environments. He is the current President of RESNA, the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America, an organization of members with a common interest in technology and disability.
