professional education program
designed especially for
CHDO EXECUTIVES

HUD’s Office of Affordable Housing Programs is pleased to announce a new certificate program in CHDO Planning and Management. Using an online education curriculum, the certification program is structured around a core body of knowledge in nonprofit management and federal CHDO requirements.  Three courses spanning a total of 15 weeks will cover a wide range of management and affordable housing topics, focusing on strategic planning, operations management and financial management.

Each week, participants will receive online presentations, be assigned weekly readings, hold online discussions with other CHDO executives and complete activity assignments that apply the lessons of the week to their own CHDOs.   At the conclusion of each five-week course, participants will be assessed based on online discussions and integrating activities.

The Program concludes with a comprehensive field project prepared and presented by each participant.  Each student will be responsible for demonstrating application of the knowledge gained in their own organization through completion of a comprehensive field project.  Those completing the Program will have gained sufficient knowledge and skills to advance themselves and their CHDO organizations within the field of affordable housing.
