Project Description
These workshops were conducted by the Schools of Architecture and Art and Design in conjunction with area community development corporations to improve the physical attractiveness of commercial and industrial areas in Pilsen and the Near West Side. One goal of the program was to work with local businesses to ensure that existing industries and employment bases were maintained. Students also worked with the communities to develop plans to redesign depressed commercial areas and mass transit stations, and to enhance open public spaces.
