Program
Description
Beauty and barber shops provide an excellent opportunity to reach men and women of all ages in a friendly, familiar, and comfortable environment. This initiative utilizes the beauty shops as a venue to expand awareness regarding women’s and men’s health and wellness issues. The initiative is a training program that provides beauty salon owners with resources and skills to improve the health of the clients they serve by improving one’s sense of well-being. This initiative extends the concept of personal beauty to include overall health and wellness. This year the initiative will focus on primarily breast and cervical cancer prevention and screening. However, the initiative will also address general men and women’s health concerns including exercise and nutrition.
