Series: Director's Critical Issues Program
Marc Mauer, of The Sentencing Project, will explore the four-decade expansion of the prison system and its wide-ranging effects on American society. As the U.S. has entered an era of mass incarceration, the effects of these policies are increasingly profound for family formation, racial justice, democratic participation, and the development of an effective and compassionate public safety strategy.
