"Beyond the Prison Industrial Complex" with Ruth Wilson Gilmore (Geography, CUNY). Gilmore will share her stunning critique of mass incarceration and outline some strategies that Critical Resistance is using to build broad based alliances working for change. As a co-founder of Critical Resistance, Gilmore’s visionary leadership has been instrumental in advancing the campaign to reduce the over-reliance on incarceration and to build alternative pathways to safety and justice.

"Beyond the Prison Industrial Complex" is part of the IRRPP Director's Series on Racial & Social Justice. This annual series engages scholars, activists, and policy makers to create lasting social change by reframing policy issues and pursuing long-term collaborations.
