Working Groups

IRRPP hosts the meetings of a number of interdisciplinary, cross-college, and cross-university groups whose work explores and advances issues of race, ethnicity, and policy.

Prison Reading-to-Action Group

The PRA was originally coordinated by IRRPP’s 2011-2012 Visiting Scholar Erica Meiners and continues to meet regularly throughout the year. This group of graduate students and scholars comes together regularly to read and discuss recent and foundational work examining the intersection between race, ethnicity, prison, and punishment. For more information contact Ray Noll at raynoll@gmail.com.

Write-on-Site

This graduate student group meets in the IRRPP conference room once a week, for a full day to work on individual projects in the same space. While each scholar is engaged in their own work, the group provides accountability (through the expectation that people will show up), support, and a sense of community among writers who are working on race and ethnicity-related projects. To find out more about when and where the Write-on-Site is meeting each semester, or to set up an additional meeting, contact Ryan Viloria, IRRPP Office Manager at rvilor1@uic.edu.
