Research Funding and Program Support
The Institute supports the scholarly, community development, and educational activities of faculty and graduate students at UIC whose work focuses on race, ethnicity, and public policy. Applications are welcome from all disciplines across the University, including the arts, humanities, education, social work, urban and policy studies, health sciences, and social sciences. Junior faculty and those from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups are especially encouraged to apply.
Faculty Fellowships
Fellowships are designed to encourage high quality, multidisciplinary, policy-relevant research on race and ethnicity. These awards support research activities by funding course releases for faculty members up to $7,000.00.

Faculty Scholar Grants
Designed to support high quality, multidisciplinary, policy-relevant research on race and ethnicity, these grants fund research projects up to $5,000.00 per semester for individuals and up to $10,000.00 for research teams.

NEW! Policy & Social Engagement Fellowship
The Policy & Social Engagement Fellowship encourages faculty to use their knowledge and skills to participate in and inform public debates and policy processes. The fellowship provides up to $10,000.00 to teams of faculty-community collaborators for semester-long policy projects.

Co-sponsorship Grants
The Institute supports the dissemination of research with grants of up to $500.00 for events developed by UIC units or community organizations.

NEW! Visiting Scholar in Residence in Race & Public Policy
With the Visiting Scholar program, IRRPP looks to support a tenure-track or tenured faculty member whose work examines policies, practices and ideologies that perpetuate racial and ethnic injustice in the contemporary United States. The salary ranges from $50,000 to $85,000 plus benefits, based on current salary.

Working Group Program
This program supports intellectual community and interdisciplinary collaboration at UIC by providing up to $10,000.00 to Working Groups that meet regularly to engage in inquiry, study, and discussion of critical policy issues in the field of race, ethnicity, and policy.
