Abstract:
The 2000 Decennial Census is being widely acclaimed as the most successful
Decennial Census in history. Data, for redistricting purposes,
is now
being released on a state by state basis. Understanding
what the data is
and is not, where to find the data, and the what, where, and when
regarding future releases of data and maps, is a crucial step to using
the
data properly and is the thrust of this presentation.
Various topics including Race, Hispanic Origin, Reapportionment, and
Voting age populations will be presented. Finally, what the Census
Bureau
does for the remained of the decade will be discussed focusing primarily
on ongoing surveys.
