Please join the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs in welcoming Alan McDade who is visiting from Bristol, England. He is here this week doing research on Resident Management Corporations in public housing. Alan is the Housing Development Worker for Community @ Heart, a non-profit organization working to implement a 10-year New Deal for Communities scheme to regenerate the Barton Hill community where Alan is a resident. Community @ Heart's focus is improving the health, economic and social well-being of families through community designed programs and strategies. This type of project has parallels with public housing transformaton in the US; however, unlike Chicago, Barton Hill's regeneration involves very little demolotion.
