PANELS TO DISCUSS URBAN PLANNING ISSUES
Big-box stores, faith-based development and other issues will be
addressed in "Opposing Viewpoints," a series of panel discussions
presented by the University of Illinois at Chicago's College of Urban
Planning and Public Affairs.
March 8
5:30 p.m. - "Neighborhoods and Shopping Districts: Can Big Boxes and Local Businesses Work Side by Side?" Moderated by Lee Brown,
president/principal, Teska Associates. Prairie Avenue Bookstore, 418 S. Wabash Ave. Panelists: Enrique Salgaldo, executive director, Division Street Business Development Association; Ellen Shepard, executive director, Andersonville Chamber of Commerce; Fred Murray, director of leasing, Harlem Irving Companies, Inc.
April 5
5:30 p.m. - "Faith-Based Planning: What is the Role of Religious
Institutions in Community Development?" Room 110, UIC CUPPA Hall, 410 S. Peoria St. Panelists to be announced.
April 26
5:30 p.m. - "Regionalism Revisited: What is in the Future for Regional
Planning Agencies?" Illini Center, 200 S. Wacker Dr. Panelists to be
announced.
Each event begins with registration and light refreshments at 5:30 p.m.
Discussions take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
General admission is $10 for the public, $5 for University of Illinois
Alumni Association members, and free for students with UIC
identification.
