| April 1, 2008 PA Students Consult with Deefield Police ------ "The plan will assist the department in dealing with future issues and in maintaining a high level of quality police services," said Police Chief John Sliozis in the Deerfield Review. One part of the planning process includes a community stakeholder survey asking residents for feedback regarding top concerns and police programs. The Public Administration Capstone class consists of a 16-week course during the last two semesters of the MPA graduate program at which point the students have successfully completed essential statistics, budgeting, and managerial classes. Projects undertaken by the class are capable of completion by a team of three to four students within a 10 week period (to allow enough time for a final presentation and any revisions the agency may request, require the use of data collection and analytical skills, and must have the support of organizational leadership in the subject agency. Subject areas can include, but are not limited to, human resource management, financial management, information systems and operational matters.
