e-Government Online Certificate Program

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited university is the minimum requirement for admission to the e-Government online certificate program. Application to the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is required for admission to the e-Government certificate program. Students must apply by completing the Graduate Certificate Program online application. Besides submitting a completed application form and non-refundable UIC application fee, applicants must submit the following supplemental documents in order to be considered for admission to the e-Government certificate program:

  1. TRANSCRIPTS - An official copy of the baccalaureate transcript indicating the earned degree(s). A grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 for the final 60 credit hours of undergraduate study is required. Photocopies of the originals will also be accepted.

  2. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES - A concise typed statement of the student's reason for seeking education in e-Government. Please be sure to include your full name at the top of your personal statement.

  3. CURRENT RESUME OR CURRICULUM VITAE

Additional Information for International Applicants

  1. FOREIGN TRANSCRIPTS - International academic documents that are evaluated by a professional credential evaluation service that holds membership in the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), in lieu of transcripts, are also acceptable.
  2. TOEFL SCORES - A copy of TOEFL scores taken within the last 2 years (applies to international students only who have not attended a US institution of higher learning for at least 2 years). Minimum scores required: paper-based TOEFL = 550, computer-based TOEFL = 213 [or new TOEFL minimum total score of 80, with subscores of 21 (Writing), 20 (Speaking), 17 (Listening), 19 (Reading)]. UIC's institution code for the TOEFL is 1851.

Hard copy materials (such as transcripts and TOEFL scores) should be submitted to the address below. E-mailed copies will also be accepted.

Your personal statement, resume/curriculum vitae as well as a photocopy of your official transcripts may be submitted electronically by sending an e-mail to the e-Government Enrollment Coordinator. These documents may also be submitted via postal mail to the UIC College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs, Department of Public Administration.
