Salary Minimum: $62,000 Maximum: $86,500
Position Summary
Under general supervision, coordinates and performs detailed, complex analyses of the operations of various organizational units and agencies in connection with the formulation and execution of the Chicago Public Schools’ annual budget; and performs related duties as required.
• Researches, analyzes and documents specific disciplines, programs, and services provided by Chicago Public Schools’ education and service organizational units
• Consults with assigned departments and other units to discuss results of research, including best practices within the field of study, and statistical data relating to units’ performance
• Coordinates the establishment of new program budgets, including the designation of fund, project, program, and object codes, opening of positions, and program cessation dates
• Develops performance criteria for new programs, including audit processes and performance measures
• Coordinates implementation of performance measurements and evaluation processes
• Instructs entry level financial analyst and assigned organizational units on the guidelines of establishing, implementing, and monitoring performance measures
• Coordinates the publication of the annual budget document
• Develops, coordinates, and evaluates budgetary training activities, studies and analyzes program revenue sources and expenditure patterns to identify funding trends in order to anticipate growth and losses in resources for specific programs
• Assists long range planners in the development of revenue/expenditure projects for planning purposes
• Prepares correspondence to respond to inquiries, to request information and to issue directives to assigned units relating to budgetary guidelines and requirements
• Prepares and maintains necessary records and reports
• Assists principal financial analyst and other unit managers on special projects as necessary.
Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy Analysis, Education Administration, or a related field of study, supplemented by two or more years of progressively responsible experience in fiscal and budgetary administration; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
